This vintage version of Mr. Commodore is ready to stiff-arm Vanderbilt's football foes. The original "Mr. C," one might argue, is Cornelius Vanderbilt himself; the university benefactor loved boating so much, he was referred to as "the Commodore." As the university began fielding athletic teams, including football, they kept up with the Naval nickname.
